We've been discussing teamwork a lot, lately. Teamwork is a necessity for our great service, and is one of the primary reasons we are successful. We do lots of introspective analysis to see how we can better serve customers, and we are continually improving the cooperation between employees, departments and companies. In 2015, we will double down on this commitment to service.
As part of our continuous improvement commitment, GLT Products is adopting the tools and techniques of Lean Kaizen. Lean is a methodology that eliminates waste and boosts efficiency. Kaizen means continuous improvement. The merging of these two terms means to get rid of waste and continuously improve best practices. This Japanese management concept is a 60+ year old, proven method of achieving continuous improvement.
Lean Kaizen is going to change our way of thinking here at GLT: The importance of TEAM will become more prominent. Lean Kaizen involves everyone in an organization, from the janitor to the CEO. Our Management Team received some training on Lean Kaizen in the last week and is preparing for our first Kaizen Event, a Value Stream Map. Many of our employees will be asked to serve on the Value Stream Map Team.
We will also be promoting from within to identify a new Process Improvement Manager. This new role will be responsible for working with everyone to reinforce our Continuous Improvement Philosophy to our core operations, work with the Credit Team and other departments to prevent the recurrence of problems, and work to improve reporting and communications between departments. This Manager will be leading us as a team, but it will take all of us to work together to achieve continuous improvement. I cannot stress enough how much this will be a team effort with input and cooperation from everyone here at GLT Products.
I am very excited about the implementation of this methodology because I know how much it will benefit our entire customer community.
